Future of Democracy Series: Is there a Crisis in Political Trust?

Join our own Gerry Stoker for this fascinating discussion at the University of Canberra, Australia.

There is a lot of talk about a crisis in trust in politics and government. The UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, summed up the mood in speech delivered in 2018. “Trust is at a breaking point. Trust in national institutions. Trust among states. Trust in the rules-based global order. Within countries, people are losing faith in political establishments, polarization is on the rise and populism is on the march."  In part because of these concerns the UK’s ESRC has just funded the TrustGov project.
